We invite presenters to join us to think together about ways in which we can create these sites, places where we can find them, and examples of them – about ways “to think and act both creatively and destructively” (Kass 2025).We welcome people from within and beyond academia. We welcome researchers, thinkers, performers, creative practitioners, polemicists, antagonists, revolutionists, and more. RIA Gold Medal 2025 Awarded to HI Director

The HI community is delighted to announce that our Director, Professor Anne Fuchs, has been awarded the 2025 Royal Irish Academy Gold Medal in the Humanities. The second medal was awarded to Seamus Martin, Smurfit Professor of Medical Genetics at TCD.

The Royal Irish Academy awards two RIA Gold Medals every year. The medals are awarded to individuals who have made a demonstrable and internationally recognised outstanding scholarly contribution in their fields. The medals aim to identify and recognise inspirational figures – the stars of the knowledge economy – in order to celebrate the achievements of higher education in Ireland and to inspire future generations. In doing so, the Gold Medals have become recognised as a truly national expression of celebration for scholarly achievement in Ireland.

The award ceremony took place at the Royal Irish Academy on 13th February 2025. Click the arrow below for further details.
